Although I did indirectly reference the situation in my previous post, I want to publicly join the ASEMECH’s call for week of mourning after Pablo Leiva’s death, 7th year medical intern.

Mistreatment and exploitation are too normalized in the training of healthcare professionals. This is not limited to any university, career, or even country.

People outside of this medium will say that we are too soft, that we should have known, that we should not complain.

Yet older healthcare workers will always say they lived through something similar. Often they will say they were too scared to speak up or did not see the point in doing so, as things would stay the same.

No estamos todos, falta Pablo.
